Developmental Milestones

Start Ahead, Stay Ahead

Every child is unique and reaches developmental milestones (the functional skills and tasks for each age and stage) at their own individual pace. All our activities feature a variety of learning styles and skill levels to help each child grow and reach their potential.

The Helen Doron Approach To Developmental Stages:

Cognitive

Cognitive milestones measure thinking skills: including learning, understanding, problem-solving, reasoning, and remembering. Young children are curious learners. Our play-based, hands-on learning environment and curriculum encourages creativity and allows children to satisfy their curiosity and take initiative.

We introduce the children to various topics and experiences that enable them to practice  reasoning and problem-solving skills and become more complex thinkers.

Social-Emotional

Social-Emotional milestones encompass children’s interactions with others and how they relate to family, friends, and teachers. All Helen Doron programs provide a reassuring environment to interact harmoniously with others, develop communication skills, and build relationships.

Our environment is a mini-society where children learn about boundaries. They develop an understanding of the world in a safe and supportive atmosphere. Working with small groups of 6-8 children, we work on your child’s self-esteem while encouraging them to develop creative, linguistic and motor abilities. Teachers have an individual approach; they listen to their students’ opinions and are ready to adopt any great ideas your child may have in class.

Physical

Physical milestones evaluate how children use their muscles: large muscles to sit, stand, walk, and run— small muscles to eat, draw, and play. In-class physical activities are created according to age and stage of development, with lots of movement, dance and action.
Early childhood is all about physical changes! At Helen Doron, children discover and develop their skills and abilities. It’s important to remember that physical

activity plays a vital role in developing the brain and supporting critical mental functions, as well as physical ones.
All Helen Doron programmes include plenty of physical movement, as “an active body is a learning body”, so learning is enhanced and naturally absorbed when combined with fun physical activity.
