MathRiders teachers are the cornerstone of our system for creating confident maths lovers who excel at their school maths classes and in life. All MathRiders teachers share a love of teaching through excitement and enthusiasm leading their students to develop a genuine love of maths.
MathRiders teachers focus on:
- Asking questions instead of making statements
- Teaching the value of making mistakes
- Encouraging students to ask and to listen, to be involved and to creative
- Supporting critical thinking and not criticizing others
- Creating an environment of cooperation and success
All this requires that the teacher demonstrate three essentials: being a child-oriented person, having the strong professional background and having passed the special MathRiders Training course.
Teaching background
The initial required level of maths proficiency for teachers depends on the MathRiders programme they are aiming at:
- Teachers of the youngest ages (MathRiders Starter) are not required to have a degree in maths but they must have strong early childhood education skills and an affinity for maths
- Teachers for the 5-11 age group (MathRiders Junior) should have a mathematical / scientific background and teaching experience with the relevant age group
- Teachers for the 11-19 age group (MathRiders Advanced) must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or a related field as well as the proven experience in teaching
Teacher Training Courses
Comprehensive teacher training is the backbone of the MathRiders programmes. Developed by expert maths pedagogues, MathRiders Teacher Training courses review the theoretical background of MathRiders curricula and provide hands-on experience using our innovative teaching methods and learning materials.
In addition to that, MathRiders teachers enjoy a network of MathRiders teachers and educational expertise. They have access to a wealth of resources including support services and advanced learning materials that ensure that each MathRiders teacher is well equipped to make every class outstanding.
